Our First Photo Contest!

The Amherst Land Trust is seeking outstanding photographs for our 50th Anniversary 2025 calendar to be printed later this year. Winners will have their submissions printed in the calendar. Along with credit attribution in both print and digital media, this will constitute the “prize.” All submissions will also be showcased on our website.

Contest Rules

  1. Submissions must feature a photo taken within an official conservation site or property in Amherst, NH or the abutting towns of Hollis, Milford, Mont Vernon, New Boston, Bedford and Merrimack.  Submissions are free.

  2. There will be one winner for each month, so a photo taken in October will be judged for the October calendar photo. Seasonality is important. As each entrant can submit up to 4 images it will be possible for one person to win multiple months.

  3. Date and Location: The conservation property must be identified and image creation date indicated on the submission form. Images may have been taken in previous years. A brief bio of the photographer and/or image title is not required but welcomed.

  4. Contest begins July 4th, 2024. All submissions must be received by October 15, 2024. The winners will be judged by a committee designated by the board of trustees. Winners will be contacted by phone or email in late October. All decisions are final.

  5. Images must be free of watermarks and any obviously unnatural enhancements like combining two images. Use of artificial intelligence is not permitted. Minor sharpening, sizing or contrast enhancements are allowable if the final image appears natural.

  6. Any image which includes people must be accompanied by a signed physical model release, giving permission for the Trust to use the images of all visible people in the photo on the Amherst Land Trust webpage, or in digital or physical promotion.

  7. Photographers can be professional or amateur. Submissions from minors must be accompanied with a permission form signed by a parent or guardian.

  8. All photographs submitted shall remain the property of the photographer; provided that, in submitting a photograph for the contest, the photographer hereby grants the Amherst Land Trust and its officers, agents, and trustees acting within the scope of their official duties, a royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide, and irrevocable license to reproduce, publish, distribute, use and prepare derivative works based on the photograph, and to authorize others to do the same.

  9. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law and is not being run on a social media platform.
